If I told you about the owl...

Vazart - Si te contara del búho

The owl was practically born in the cage and stayed there; I never displayed it to my clients.

After days of social isolation due to quarantine, I thought it was the perfect time to resume and finally give it wings. This is how this creation, named Madagascar, was born.

You might ask, "Why Madagascar?" Well, there's an endemic species on the island called the "Madagascar Long-eared Owl." When I was reading about it, its colors and lifestyle, I knew it was the right one to shape the necklace.

An owl that wasn't an owl

I must confess that, initially, everything was a mess, with beads and necklace pieces scattered all over my workbench, and the intention of having a bird appear in my design wasn't very clear either; perhaps it was a happy coincidence that the owl revealed itself.

And I say happy coincidence because, although it wasn't in my initial scribbles, I am a firm believer in the power and energy that emanates from animals, and according to various cultures and civilizations, I also believe they play a fundamental role in people's lives.

But we'll talk about that later...

The missing piece

After the tangle with another necklace, the wonderful coincidence of the owl showed me the way to invent a stage 3 accessory that would meet my clients' expectations.

Many customers have asked me for necklaces with pendants (the pendant is the baby's teether), and the creation needed to meet several objectives:

  1. The owl's figure should be clearly visible.
  2. It should be safe in every way for the baby without losing its design sophistication.
  3. It should meet the requirements of a stage 3 necklace.

When all these details were covered and the owl was made, I found it abstract; sometimes I saw it, sometimes I didn't.

People who know me know that until things are perfect, there is no rest for me.

I worked all night and into the early morning on my owl to bring it to life as it deserves, not only because my reputation is at stake, but because my clients should always receive the best from VazART.

Here is the result, judge for yourselves:

A simple piece can make all the difference.

Spirituality and messages from the other world

The owl represents wisdom and is present in most magical rituals of different cultures. I myself believe in messages from the universe and know that it manifested itself in one way or another in the creation of my new piece.

When I started reading in depth about the wisdom of owls, I also uncovered a kind of metaphor that, being a nocturnal animal, resembles the protective mother who watches over her baby's sleep, and I wanted to reflect that in the necklace.

Pure wisdom

It is said that the goddess Athena was always accompanied by an owl; she herself represents the knowledge and intelligence of human beings, and perhaps that is why she was accompanied by such a magnificent species.

In some cultures, shamans recreate owls in their totems to signify that this is a guardian of the afterlife. I loved that metaphor because it is precisely the philosophy I want to transmit through VazART: to be guardians of babies through the design of unique, vibrant, and safe pieces.

Wearing an owl brings good vibes, so this becomes the perfect excuse to make it a necklace and not another accessory.

An owl is everything mothers are

Perhaps motherhood makes us develop that instinct of protection and care that only the owl can exhibit. In reality, I found so many coincidences with our full-time job as mothers of our children that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to pay this bird its small tribute.

The owl is…

Intuitive: and mothers develop with extraordinary perfection the intuition to understand that first language of our little ones. The dictionary says of intuition: "the ability to know, understand, or perceive something clearly and immediately."

Absolutely agree!

Wise: and I take it for granted that each of us is surrounded by a halo of wisdom when we become mothers, never to abandon us. Therefore, our children, besides loving us, will see us as their best counselors to face life and take firm steps in the face of adversity.

Sharp-sensed: and that's what we become when it comes to protecting our babies; it's as if our anatomy has transformed to make us fast, tenacious, astute, and extraordinarily foresighted in the face of danger.

Silent: and we don't allow a leaf to fall from a tree without our permission while we watch over our baby's sleep. Mothers as silent as the wings of the owl itself.

I can only tell you that I am infinitely proud of this creation, of that wonderful coincidence of seeing the owl in the necklace, and I hope you also feel it as a tribute from VazART to all those guardian mothers, imbued with the magic and wisdom of this extremely intelligent bird.
